Joana Lourencinho Carneiro is a multidisciplinary designer and image-maker based in Porto (PT), with a heart set on making books and drawings. Working independently since 2015, she collaborates with artists, cultural institutions, and creative studios in Portugal and internationally.
Joana’s work centers on editorial design, particularly books and printed matter that combine artistic approaches with thoughtful structure. Her practice extends into illustration, exhibition design, identity systems, and other commissioned projects, always shaped by a research-driven and personal approach.
Drawing plays a central role in the work process, informing both her graphic design practice and her authored projects. Through typography, lettering, layout, and hand-drawn elements, Joana develops conceptually grounded work, often situated within the fields of contemporary art, cinema, architecture, music, and fashion.
