Joana Lourencinho Carneiro Joana Lourencinho Carneiro is a multidisciplinary designer and image-maker based in Porto (PT), with a heart set on making books and drawings. Working independently since 2015, her experience spans close collaborations with independent artists and collectives to partnerships with creative studios and cultural institutions, both in Portugal and internationally.
Joana’s work centers on editorial design, particularly books and printed matter that combine artistic approaches with thoughtful structure. Her practice extends into illustration, exhibition design, identity systems, and other collaborative projects — always shaped by a research-driven and personal approach. She integrates typography, lettering, layout, and hand-drawn elements to create conceptually grounded work, often within the context of contemporary art, cinema, architecture, music, and fashion.
Alongside commissioned projects, she also develops self-initiated initiatives like Pop’lar and JoLou Goods, exploring the intersections of daily life, design, objects, and drawing.
